A Bit Closer

We call this a Start!
Chris and I visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sistoni yesterday to cover last minute instructions for our stay in their home in Collevalenza di Todi. We were entertained with the best cappaccino and zucchini bread.  Then after going over how to enter the house, set up power, water, gas and turn on the water heater, we were thrilled that they wanted us to have some necessities when we first arrive.  Euros, the house key, bus tokens, market discount cards and a flip phone.

To say we were thrilled is an understatement.  Such generosity from these wonderful people left us speechless.

Making a list, checking it over and over...

When you go away for a two week vacation, you take certain steps to ensure all your T's are crossed and I's dotted.  When you go away for 5 months, there is no such thing.  The list is so long, we should have started last year.  Just a sample of the list:
Bills, House, Dogs, Pool, Garden Plot, Clothes to take, clothes to leave, luggage 2 or 4, MONEY (both kinds), planning flights in Italy, adapters or converters or both, how to get to Greece, How to get to the Greek Islands, Rental cars or not rental cars, Trains or busses or ferries, languages, all times 5 months.

Thank goodness I have Chris, she worries enough for both of us.  Me, I can't wait to leave.

Do you know the way to Todi?

It's been three years since I left this blogging space and decided I was done with it.  But rust never sleeps and time keeps on ticking.  Not sure what that means, but it sounds sophisticated.  Regardless, I'm back at it and hope to enlighten you on our (Chris and my travels) as we make our way to the old country.  We're talking Italy, Greece, Croatia and maybe stops in France and Germany.  Why Todi?  It's in the middle of Italy.  It's quaint and it happens to be where a friend has a place we can stay for cheap.

Many a traveler has written about their journeys, so why do this.  Cuz I can.  It's fun for me, and maybe educational for you, the soon to be enlightened reader...yeah right!   What could be better than winter in the old country?  How about going to Hawaii where it's not freezing.  Except for that creeping lava thing, we eventually hope to land there too.  We shall see.

So travel along with us and we hope you enjoy the ride.

If you check out this entry, you can actually go back in time and see what the hell I was doing back during Obama's first term.  (sorry, no political comments will be allowed)

Ciao,

Chris and Chef Tom
