Deck the Halls with boughs of Holly!

After returning from Assisi, Chris and I decided to trim the tree here in Collevalenza.  Seems no one in Italy turns on lights prior to December 8th or the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  Or this year the weekend before as lights were up Saturday and Sunday.  I found this refreshing since Christmas advertising starts sometime around July 5th back home.  Real trees are very expensive here, so for the first time ever in our Christmas decorating life, we bought an artificial tree. It was e9 euros.  The lights were e12  euros and I needed two boxes.  Ornaments, garland and a tree topper all came to e48 euros.   So for e57 euros we were in business.  Want to be sure to keep the commercialism in Christmas.

Back home, I would light up the roof and front porch as well as getting the good old fashion family Noble Fur from Home Depot.  Usually about $40 bucks.  Erin comes over, we put on "Christmas with John Denver and the Muppets".  Then, decorate the tree.  Me, cussing about the lights and Chris and Erin putting on all the ornaments.  Then its chili for dinner.

We put on John Denver and the Muppets from iTunes and proceeded to decorate for Christmas here in Italy.

Me, getting started

Chris purchased some fake poinsettias

Here it is in all it's glory

So, whatever your holiday traditions are, we hope you have a wonderful start to your Christmas and holiday season.

Buon Natale!

Oh man, Christmas in Italy is magical. I remember it like it was yesterday. Is it any coincidence that Italy's colors are red & green? I think not.

Enjoy it all. So wish we were there with you both but your blog post helps us a little.

Con affetto!
